I often say that "Intercessors" don't work in the spot light. But I want you to know that there is a place where you have to make your position known.....IN CHURCH....

I mention this because God had to remind me of my behavior in church.

On Sunday, we had a powerful deliverance service. People were being delivered from the snares of the enemy.

What I found myself doing was getting caught up in watching the situations. Watching people receive the healing that they needed.

As soon as I got out of Church, God had to deal with me.

Church is not an entertainment venue.

When people are being delivered from the lies of the enemy, an Intercessor is not suppose to watch. The Intercessor is suppose to be praying also.

Now that God has had to deal with me, let me speak about the behavior of the Intercessor in Church.

As an Intercessor, you should be praying:

For the Pastor

Pray that they have heard from God and that they pass the word on to the church members.

Pray that the plans that the enemy had for your Pastor is cancelled.

Pray that your Pastor has a fresh annointing.

Pray that your Pastor is blessed.

etc...

Pray for New Visitors

Pray that those who are first time visitors, find the truth in Jesus Christ and continue to attend church.

Pray for those who have been hurt from other churches and who are looking for a place to call "church home".

etc...

Pray for Those at Alter call

Pray that those who go up to alter accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior

Pray for their protection over their lives.

Pray that they always seek to follow the light of Jesus Christ

The luggage that you are suppose to carry around

Back in the days, I use to carry a purse that was equal to a suitcase. Every emergency that could come up, I had the answer in my purse. If there was room for the kitchen sink I would have put it in my purse.

Several years ago, we were visiting my parents in Maryland. We decided to take the children to see all of the sights in Washington DC. Every time we went into a building my purse had to go through the metal detector.

I had to wait along the side while everything in my purse was taken out and displayed to everyone. During one of the purse searches, I actually took a look at the things I was carrying around.

I had a syringe, a spoon, some toy cars, makeup, bandages, dolls, riverbanks, you name it, it was there.

Now I had the syringe and spoon because my children have asthma and they were on medication but if you just look at the things differently, you would think that I was a using drugs. :-)

Well those days are over. I usually carry just my keys and wallet. But there is something that I carry that is more important than my keys. More important than my wallet.

I carry a prayer journal.

This is the luggage that you are suppose to carry around.

I carry a prayer journal because every person that I come across that needs prayer I have to enter it into my prayer journal.

The reason you need to carry your prayer journal with you is because you can run into someone early in the day that needs prayer. You can pray for that person right then and there but later on you may want to pray again for that person.

With everything that goes on in a day, it might be hard to remember the person that you prayed for. It may even be a day where instead of God putting just one person in your life, God places 20 people.

Enter these people into your prayer journal.

You can use your prayer journal to review those who need prayer. Remember that we pray until God tell us to stop praying. Sometimes it is one time sometimes it is months of prayer. God lets you know.

Do you have to go out and buy something special something expensive??

Not in the Kingdom of God!!!

Use a notebook, pad, whatever you have around.

Keep it with you always.

So now you are thinking...do I really have to do this??

Well the answer is yes and no.

You do not have to anything that you do not feel like doing.

Remember that one of the gifts we have is "Free Will"

You do not have to carry a prayer journal and sometimes God may tell you that you do not have to carry one...

But here is something I learned.

God loves to test His people.

If He did not test us then He wouldn't know where we are. And where He needs to work in our lives.

So when someone comes my way for prayer, I am going to carry my prayer journal and enter their name. I do not know sometimes if God put that person in my life just to see if I would pray for them.....

Praying 101 (a)

While you are developing your prayer life.
The one important thing that you want to remember is that there is power in your prayer.
I know you are thinking that I am just starting this prayer thing and I don't feel very powerful but you have power.
What you want to do is learn how to increase your power.
Let me give you an example.
If you put a pot of water on the stove and put it on low the water will get hot.
It is going to take a while but the water is going to get hot.
Now if you want the water to heat up quickly you turn up the heat.

So lets turn up the heat in your praying....

One of the biggest mistakes that we make in praying is praying to the problem.
I am still guilty of this from time to time and I always have to catch myself.

Let me give you an example:
My teenagers are typical teenagers. With that said...

they fight with each other...
they rebel against things just to rebel...
they watch and listen to things that they should not...
etc...

Now sometimes I get caught in praying the problem by saying
Oh God why are they fighting
Oh God stop them from fighting
Jesus why are they rebelling
Oh God why won't they follow the correct directions
and on and on.

When I catch myself I pray
In the name of Jesus, I thank you for the love that they have towards each other. I thank you Father God for choosing each of them to be brother and sister to each other.
I thank you God in the name of Jesus that these two children are mighty children of God. I thank You that You have blessed their steps and that they are favored. I thank You God that anything that is not of You will never deposit and rest in their spirit. I thank You Father God that You are keeping harmful things from them.
In the name of Jesus, I thank You for what You have done in their live and what You continue to do in their lives.
Amen

Now can you see the difference in the two prayers.
The one that allows you to see things differently than what they are
these are the prayers that pack the most power.

Again, try to find scripture to back up what you are praying.
God always honors His word and His word catches His attention quickly.

Keep Praying

Sometimes we get to a spot where we feel that we have prayed all that we can pray.....
Nothing can be further from the truth....

When we reach that point where we think that we have prayed all that we can pray guess what happens???
You go back to your problems....
You go backwards and start worrying about yourself...
You interrupt Gods work in your life.....
Remember that God is going to take care of you...
God wants you to take care of those who do not know what you know...

Today here are some more chances to pray...

Pray for those you might see stranded on the roadside......

Open up the newspaper or go to the news online. More than likely you do not even need to go to the second page...Pray for someone who needs prayers

Pray for all of the parents you know who have teenagers.....

Pray for people in the hospital.....

Pray for your pastor..........

Pray for bus drivers.........

Pray for teachers..........

Pray for the elderly who are alone....

Probaly one of the most difficult steps you could take..........
Pray for someone who you might not really like.............
What!!!!.............
We all have that person in our lives that we don't like.........
They have hurt us, they were mean to us, they misunderstood us, they laughed at us.......
Whatever it is there is that person who when ever we hear their name, your stomach starts to churn.....
Well start praying for that person......
Now don't pray for something bad to happen to that person........
That is not the way..............
Start blessing that person......
Start praying that they will be blessed financially
Start praying that they have more than they ever wanted...
Start praying for God to do wonderful things in that person's life....
It's hard I know but remember
It's not about you........
It's about you showing God that you are the person that He wants you to be.
Now guess what is going to happen.
God is going to realize that you have what it takes to be one of His own
God is going to bless you because you care for one of His own.

Today, pray a little longer for someone else.
Pick someone who you know is in need of prayer. Just one person.
It can be a friend, spouse, family member, boss, etc...
If you want to, contact that person and tell them that you are praying for them today and find out if there is anything they want you to pray about.
You don't have to contact the person if you do not want to.
Pray for them all day today.
In your prayer make sure to
.....pray in the name of Jesus
.....bless them.
.....ask God for His Will in their life.

Expect a miracle in that person's life.

Everytime you hear sirens pray that Jesus will send help to those persons in need
When the "breaking news" banner goes up on the new cast, pray that Jesus will help the situation.
When you see the homeless along the side of the road..Pray that Jesus will come into their lives.
When you see a mother struggling with a fussy child ..Pray that Jesus will send peace.
When you are at the check out counter and your cashier has a problem..Pray that Jesus will step in and make the situation right.
When someone cuts you off in traffic..Pray that Jesus sees that person to their destination safely.
When someone has done something to you that causes you to hurt...Pray that Jesus will bless them
Try this today.

By now I hope that you have developed some tools to pray for yourself and get answers to your prayers.
Now is the time to realize that the entire time you are praying for yourself and your needs, you are actually developing a strong bond with God.
God wants us to talk to Him. In the greatness of our God, our God takes delight anytime you speak with Him. God longs for us to draw Him into our lives.
But did you know that it is not always about you!!!
I want you to learn to take the focus off of your problems and focus on the needs of others.
I know I know
You have so many things going on in your own life.
You have so many unmet needs in your life.
You have so many things that you need to pray for in your life.
I know I know
I go through this EVERY day.
I use to ask the question..How can I pray for someone else when there is so much going on in my life??
Well God will let you know that....It's not about you.
If you have prayed to God regarding your situations, you should know that God's got it.
But what about the people who can't even pray?
Who is the voice for them??
Believe it or not...you are
Yes that's correct
The person who has so much going on in your life.
The person who has so many unmet needs
The person who has so much to pray for in your own life.
Now before you run away let me ask you to wait please.
There is a bonus
When you can pray for others, you are going to be blessed.
I mean what I say.
There is something that happens to you and your unmet needs when you take the focus off of them and start praying for others.
If you think that what I am saying is not true...try it.

Pray until something happens.
A couple of years ago, I heard a pastor say that you should only pray for something once.
I tried in vain to follow that notion but I kept finding myself going back to the same thing and praying over and over again for it.
I would sometimes start my prayer out with. In the name of Jesus, Father God I know that you are the Almighty and you encompass everything. I know that I have prayed for this before and I am sorry to be praying again about it. I know God that you have already heard my prayers but I am still looking for the answer.
Next, my prayers would be something like. In the name of Jesus, Father God I am worried because I have not seen the answer to my prayers yet.
Finally the prayers would be In the name of Jesus, Father God I have come to you with my prayers and I am going to keep coming to you until I see the answer. Your word state.(I would quote the scripture) and I am standing on that. In the name of Jesus, I know that you are preparing great and wonderful things for me and You have the answer to my prayer. In the name of Jesus, I am just asking you for patience while I wait for your answer.
believe it or not, I usually got the answer to my prayer after the last prayer that I just shared with you.
I had to give up on the notion to just pray for something once because I finally realized a couple of things.
First, each time I am praying, I am still developing the relationship between God and myself.
Each time I am praying, I am asking Jesus to step in.
Each time I am praying, I am giving up the battle and turning it over to the Lord
Each time I am praying, I am learning more and more scripture
And
Each time I pray, I develop some strength and power. The first couple of my prayers I was faint and begging.
At the end of those prayers, I developed some power and strength.
Did you see what just happened?
The birth of an Intercessor.
Someone who has the power to say to Satan---MOVE
Someone who is willing to P.U.S.H. Pray until something happens.

Ok, by now you should be feeling pretty strong in your faith.
You should now find yourself praying for yourself and believe it or not you are most likely praying for someone else.
Things are going to be just great right?
Yes and No
The good thing about praying for yourself and for others is that you are building a very close relationship with the two Most important people in your life....God and Jesus
But sometimes, just sometimes you are choked.
These are the times when things come at you like a storm instead of simple raindrops.
These days you are going to feel so choked and overwhelmed that you can't pray for yourself let alone others.
There is a simple solution.
The name is Jesus.
That is right.
All you have to say is Jesus
There is power in His name.
So if all day you are just saying Jesus, it's ok.
He will understand what you are feeling.
Jesus will fix it.

When you start confessing somethings outloud, you not only get the attention of the Heavens but you get your own attention.

It is time to put on your glasses

People wear glasses to see things clearly. If they do not wear their glasses the things that they look at are blurred or can not be seen at all.
Now that you are getting comfortable with praying for yourself, it is time to put on your glasses.
We are not talking about a physical pair of glasses but a symbolic pair of glasses.
You see, the way that we see things and the way that God sees things are totally different.
With our symbolic pair of glasses, we have to see things the way that God sees things.
It's hard, I know, but try.
Put on your glasses and see this:

When situations in your life cause you to fear, put on your glasses and see this:
"For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, "Fear not. I will help you"...Isaiah 41:13

When situations in your life causes you to doubt if you are worthy of Gods mercy, put on your glasses and see this:
"For you Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You"...Psalms 86:5

When situations in your life cause you to feel powerless, put on your glasses and see this:
"He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."...Matthew 17:20

When situations in your life cause you to be angry with someone, put on your glasses and see this:
"But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful"...Luke 6:35-36

With your symbolic glasses on you can now see that you have:
Power
God's Mercy
God's Blessing
God's Protection

With your symbolic glasses on you now see that the World sees things one way but God sees them another way.

Is It Ok For Me To Pray For Myself??

In the beginning of my Christian walk, I use to feel a little selfish praying for myself. I use to wonder if I should be doing this?
Well I had to first look at what I was praying for.
Things like let me win the lottery.
Now I would never get upset if I won the lottery but there are so many basic things that I had to learn to pray for.
Start praying today for yourself.
Yes it is ok to pray for yourself.
But watch what happens.
Once you start praying for yourself and your needs something is going to happen.
Somewhere in your prayers you are going to call out someone else's name.
Unless you live in a cave with no interaction with an one, there are people in your life that effect you.
When you start praying for yourself then you are going to add a husband, child, parent, friend, etc.
These are the people who are involved in your life as well as you being involved in their life.
Do you see what happened??
Even though you are praying for yourself, you are also praying for someone else.
I think and Intercessor is being born.

Prayer Partners

The word says "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:19-20
It is always a good idea to have a prayer partner (if you are comfortable with this). A prayer partner is someone who you partner with to lift up the name of Jesus. If you attend a church you might want to call your pastor to find out if he has a list of prayer partner. Some of the Tv ministries have prayer partner that you can also contact. You can even search the internet for prayer partners.
A prayer partner is a person that you can fellowship with. A prayer partner is someone to remind you of the promise in the Word of God. A prayer partner is someone who can pray for you and you can pray for them.
Do you see what happened? You are praying for your prayer partner.
I see a great Intercessor being born.
Now sometimes you can not find a prayer partner or you are just not comfortable with the idea. Does this mean that your prayers will not be heard?
Of course not.
Consider this, Jesus is our Intercessor. We can always ask in Jesus name to have our prayers heard.

Praying 101

Let's jump right into the praying thing.
I use to be a Catholic and was use to memorizing many prayers .
I can still quote a bunch of them now.
The problem is that I never really took the time to understand anything that I was saying.
It was just enough for me to know them.
When I became a born again Christian lifestyle, I thought I was going to have this prayer thing under control because I had a belt full of prayers.
Well what I found is that I could not pray.
I was use to going to confession and speaking to a priest and having the priest tell me what prayers to say.
I was absolutely lost when it came to prayer.
First of all I did not feel that I had all of the "good" words to be heard.
I thought that I had to have a lot of thee's and thou's.
A good friend told me, just talk to Jesus like you would talk to a friend.
What
The Lord of Lords and King of Kings is going to listen to me when I say-Hey Jesus?
The answer is yes.
Jesus and God know who you are and trust me that the more you pray the more powerful you will become.
So if you are beginning to pray, keep it real.
There is only one thing that is required. You must acknowledge Jesus in your prayer.
The word says "Jesus answered "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me..."John 14:6
So you must pray through Jesus Christ.
Remember that Jesus is our Intercessor.
Think of it as the chain of command.
You will develop your own method of acknowledging Jesus in your prayer, but here are a few ways to help you.
After you have prayed, say...In Jesus' name..Amen
During your prayer you may start each prayer off ..Lord Jesus, I pray..... Lord Jesus, I ask...
During your prayer you say after your request .. I pray that.... In Jesus name.. I ask for .... In Jesus name...
Now there is another important element of your prayer and that is the praise.
Sometimes people tell me that they are so stressed by their problems that they just can not see "the light at the end of the tunnel".
Sometimes people feel that they have to be happy in order to praise.
The Praise in your prayer is the element that moves your prayer to the "attention getting"mode.
No I am not saying that God listens to one prayer and not the other. God hears all prayers.
But.. there is something about the Praise in the prayer that attracts God.
God stops and says..wait a minute!
My child is in pain, my child is in trouble, my child needs help in their situation but they can still Praise me.
Do you see what just happened?
You took your attention off of your problems (even if it is just for a second) and put your attention on God.
I see the making of a great Intercessor :-)
So back to the Praise thing.
I know that you often say, I just can not see anything to praise about right now.
Let me help you out.
This is the Praise that I often have to say when I am in one of those moods.
Lord Jesus, I just want to thank Father God for waking me up today because somewhere someone did not wake up this morning.
Think about it.
You have another day! Even if it is problem filled, you have another day.
Give praise.

What happens after I turn my life over to Jesus?

Ok so you have prayed the Prayer of Salvation and you are now a born again Christian.
The good times are ready to roll! Right??
Yes and No
The most important thing is to make the turn from a life of sin to a life with God. You did that when you prayed the Prayer of Salvation.
Now comes a difficult part of your life but a part of your life that you have the power to rule over.
Let me explain,
Have you ever been shopping and the clerk forgot to take off the security tag once you have paid for the item?
The moment you go through that security check point, an alarm goes off. At that moment all of the attention is on you. Someone approaches you and ask for the receipt and then checks the items in your bag. After the investigation, you are free to leave.
I don't know about you but there was a time that this would really bother me.
I would wonder why did I have to go through the public investigation and the cashier just kept on with her job.
It wasn't my fault it was the cashiers fault...Right?
(Just to let you know that once you continue in your Christian walk, these things won't bother you as much)
I make this illustration to show you that once you have prayed the Prayer of Salvation, you are just like that item with the security tag sill on it.
You have already been bought and paid for by Jesus but you have crossed through the security check point that the enemy has set up.
The alarm is letting Satan know that you are escaping him.
I wish I could tell you that Satan is going to say..Ok well goodbye.
The alarm is letting Satan know that you are getting away from him. He is not going to take that lightly.
Even thought you are covered by the blood of Jesus, Satan is still going to try.
Remember that whether you have gone to alter call or if you prayed the Prayer of Salvation here, you have just put Satan on notice. You have told him that he has been replaced. That Jesus now runs things for you.
This is a dangerous time for you.
It is also an exciting time for you because you are in the middle of a fight. There are two people fighting over you. But to God be the Glory because Jesus always wins.
In the next couple of days and maybe weeks, everything that can SEEM to go wrong is going to go wrong.
Notice that I put emphasis on SEEM
It you have told a bunch of your friends and family that you are now a born again Christian, expect some problems.
They are going to Seem to label you as a Jesus Freak and making you feel isolated.
They are going to Seem to remind you of the things that you use to do.
They are going to Seem to avoid you because they don't want you telling them what is wrong in their lives.
Don't worry
Next, it may Seem as if your finances situation is getting worst instead of better. It may Seem as if every bill that you owe turns up in your mailbox in the same day.
Sometimes it may Seem as if your prayer are going unheard.
It may Seem as if you do not get as much attention in church as when you went to alter call.
Don't worry
Satan is going to Seem to have complete control of your life.
How can that be??? You just became a born again Christian
Satan is going to try his best to get you back. He will cause all sorts of commotions in your life.
Just when you think that you can not take it anymore, Satan will whisper in your ear..Where is your Jesus now??
Satan is going to ask you.. If you are such a favorite of Jesus the Savior and God the Father..Why are all of these things happening to you??
I want you to learn and say this sentence often: The devil is a liar!
With everything that might be going on in your life at this moment, Know that God Is In Control.
Satan has no real power when you compare the power of God.
Satan makes things SEEM worst than what they really are.
It may Seem as if everyone is calling you a Jesus Freak and you feel isolated.
The truth is that people are going to call you things in front of your face and behind your face. I would much rather be called a Jesus Freak than some other names that people can call me. Also,
when you become a Jesus Freak, you are among millions and millions so you are not alone.
It may SEEM as if people are reminding you of the things that you use to do.
The truth is that we are all sinners. The only perfect person was Jesus and He died with our sin on Him. We have all sinned in one form or another. Sin is sin. God does not have a tally sheet in Heaven where using drugs equals 10 points and lying equal 2 points. All sin is equal in God's eyes.
The truth is when someone reminds you of what you use to do in the past, just know that the minute you repent of your Sins, Jesus does not remember anymore.
It may SEEM as if your friends and family are avoiding you. You see, people know that you have made a change and they are afraid that you are going to change their life also. They may not be ready to give up living a sinful life.
The truth is that many of your friends and relative may envy you because you were strong enough to make the change. Just be a good example for them because many of them are waiting to see if you make it before they make the change.
It may SEEM as if your financial situation is going astray.
The truth is that you are going to learn about blessings that God has for you.
It may SEEM as if your prayers are going unheard.
The truth is that your prayers are being heard. You are going to learn how to Wait for the answer.

So knowing all of this, stay strong in your decision to be borned again. After the investigation, you are going to be able to go on. Just like you would if you were in the store and the security alarm went off. After the investigation you are allowed to go on through.

Why should I learn to pray when I can ask someone else to pray for me?

First let me say that there is nothing wrong with asking people to pray for you.
I am an Intercessor and I pray for people all of the time.
There have been many times that I have had to ask for prayer.
But I want you to know that there are going to be some times when you can not call someone.
How about those midnight hours problems. Can you call someone at 2 am to ask them to pray for you?
For this reason, I want to empower you to know that you have the power. The power to pray yourself and have God hear you.
The #1 Intercessor is Jesus. The word says "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". . . John 14:6
From what we know about Intercessors, we understand that Jesus stands between God and ourselves.
Jesus pleads our case to the Father.
So the first thing that you should do (if you have not already) is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Why?
If you know that Jesus is going to intercede for you to the Father, isn't that someone who you want in your corner?
Simply say the following prayer out loud:

Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name I repent of my sins and open my heart to let Jesus come inside of me.Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I believe you died for my sins and you were raised from the dead. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.

Is that it?

Well I was one of those who said I would not get caught up in the blogging craze.. Well here I am.

So you are interested in becoming an Intercessor? Your own Intercessor?

I guess the first place to begin is by defining what an Intercessor is?

Some would like to have a long lengthy description of what an Intercessor is but I prefer the simple definition....an Intercessor stands between.

That is right..an Intercessor stands between.

Ok great..that sounds easy right?? Ready to be an Intercessor?

Before you run around telling people that you are now an Intercessor...consider this.

It is what an Intercessor is standing between where things get interesting.

An Intercessor stands between a person and pretty much the enemy.

Who is the enemy

Some call him satan, the prince of darkness, the liar,the devil, etc...

What ever you call him, the Intercessor has told the enemy that he is going to have to give up the ground and give up the tricks and leave you alone.

Wait don't run. You can do it. You really have the power to take on the enemy and win.
